Infrastructure remains one of the main deterrents to foreign direct investments in Romania, but there is also bureaucracy, corruption and poor absorption of European Funds.

To talk about these problems and the steps the Government is taking to counter them, Alexandru Năstase, state secretary of the department for infrastructure projects, foreign investment, PPP and export promotion (DPIIS), will speak on the first day of the summit, during the Opening conference.

DPIIS is the Government’s leading body in developing major investment projects and Romania’s “one-stop-shop” for foreign investors under the direct coordination of the Prime Minister, responsible with FDI promotion and attraction in Romania.

As head of DPIIS, Alexandru Nastase is one of the most if not the most apt speaker to shed light into the Government’s plans in how to turn Romania into a more attractive destination for investors.

Business Review has spoken to Alexandru Nastase and will publish an interview with the official in next week’s issue.

Nastase said that the main goal of DPIIS is to attract new investors and to promote the image of Romania globally.

The state secretary said the a new state aid scheme and the enforcement of a new Public Private Partnership (PPP) law, which is currently pending approval in Parliament, are two of the main avenues that can be used to attract investors.

According to Nastase, Romania is an attractive destination for foreign investors, citing a series of advantages such as the access to incentives and funds provided by EU and Romanian legislation and the recent enactment on tax exemption for reinvested profit.

To see the state secretary speaking live and for the opportunity to ask him questions, register now for the Foreign Investors Summit! And keep following us as we will announce more expert speakers in the following weeks as we inch closer and closer to the Summit.
